Entering the ICT industry

There are various opportunities to enter the information and communication technologies (ICT) profession.
Anyone wishing to pursue a career in this field would do well to acquire the breadth and depth of skills needed to be successful and have the necessary flexibility at the outset. The core skills that you need depend, among other things, on the ICT career that you are going to pursue.

  • A computer science secondary school (IMS)
    • Manufacturer-independent or manufacturer-specific certificates in the professional field of ICT

A change of career into the ICT industry

There are various options for changing careers and getting involved in the ICT industry thanks to a diverse and varied range of IT courses. If you want make a change and have basic computer skills, the following options are generally available:

  • Manufacturer-independent training courses leading to certificates
  • Manufacturer-specific, specialized training courses leading to manufacturer certificates. Large manufacturers in particular offer certifications for their products (operating systems, networks, standard software, etc.). The courses are aimed primarily at IT professionals who want to demonstrate their competency for a specific product.
  • Vocational schools and private IT schools, etc. offer many ICT-related training courses with qualifications from the individual school. These cannot all be listed due to the large number of them
  • Entry linked to employment in a company (on-the-job training)
  • There are also large companies that offer internships or trainee programs for high school or university graduates
